Rosé 2014

Wine Awards:  Not yet released for wine tasting competitions.

IN THE VINEYARD

Age of vines: Planted in 2008 on drought resistant rootstock R 110.
Number of Clones:  SH 9 & SH 22
Vineyards: The grapes were planted on laterite gravelly (on) clay soils, originating from weathered Table Mountain Sandstone & Bokkeveld shale mother material. The grapes are influenced by the unique maritime climate, the cool Atlantic Ocean breeze and the inimitable terroir of the farm in the shade of the Kogelberg biosphere and mountain range.

THE HARVEST

Average sugar at harvest: 22.5 °Balling (Brix) / 95 °Oe / 19 °KMW
The grapes are entirely hand-picked, between daybreak and mid-morning.

IN THE CELLAR

The 2014 Shiraz grapes were harvested on the 23rd of February 2014. The grapes were crushed and then gently pressed and settled for 48 hours. The juice was fermented for about 16 days at 12 degrees Celsius and kept on the lees with regular stirring till bottling.

TASTING NOTES

The Rosé presents vivid pink in colour with a fruity nose. The wine is soft and elegant with cherries and raspberries on the palate and a prolonged aftertaste.

The wine is perfect for drinking now.

FOOD SUGGESTIONS

The Rivendell Shiraz Rose 2014 goes perfectly with strong spices and especially curries.
